AVG Antivirus Review

AVG offers an impressive feature-rich package, with strong malware protection and excellent performance across a variety tests. The free version comes with a few drawbacks, and the premium version comes with more features like an optimization tool for devices and VPN.

The malware scanner of the software uses machine learning and heuristics to identify and eliminate any possible threats, such as trojans rootkits and Cryptojackers. It also guards against ransomware-related attacks, phishing, and suspicious websites. AVG’s smart scanners are swift and complete. They will show you a list of “advanced problems” that you can fix immediately, including items that require password protection, a weak firewall, or a camera that is not secured. It’s more aggressive than the other top-quality antivirus scanners in this regard and will prompt you to buy its paid flavor by clicking on any of these issues.

Its AV Test results are generally very good. It was able to detect and protect 100% of the malware during March and April 2022 testing. Its ability to detect zero-day attacks is less than some of the top-rated software that I’ve tested. And it can slow down the system.

The free version offers security for email and websites identity theft monitoring of passwords leaked to the public photo vaulting, as well as AVG Cleaner, which helps speed up your device through the elimination of unnecessary data. The premium version comes with webcam security and protection against ransomware and secure banking and a firewall. It also comes with a performance tuning that increases the speed of your computer and extends battery life, as well as a VPN for online privacy.
